Sharon K Barco
Office Manager, Administration, President
Sharon has been with Barco’s Accounting since 1992. She graduated from Coastal Carolina in 1984. Before joining the firm, she worked as a Medical Laboratory Technologist, mostly on weekends and usually ran all departments alone on night shift. She believes the lab work enabled her to multi-task with efficiency. Sharon manages the office and also does accounting and makes sure all of the client’s work is completed timely. Her motto is walk softly but carry a big stick. She is a member of the Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association and The National Society of Accountants. Sharon and Smitty have been married for 49 years, have two children and three grandchildren. When not working she loves to crochet items for the children and spend time with family. She is a member of Family Church PC.
Carroll S Barco Jr (Smitty)
EA, Vice President
Smitty is a Florida Native born in Gainesville, FL (Go Gators)! He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and met his wife Sharon at the USO. He is the senior tax preparer, accountant and an Enrolled Agent. After graduating from Southern Illinois University in 1984, he became a Comptroller for a nursing home for handicapped children in North Carolina. He made the move back to Florida in 1991 and has been dedicated in helping individuals and businesses burdened with tax problems. He is a member of the Charlotte Desoto Building Industry Association, National Association of Enrolled Agents ,The National Society of Accountants and The National Tax Professionals. He has been married to Sharon for 47 years. They have two children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, he loves watching the Gators play, movies and spending time with family. He is a member of Family Church PC.
C. Andrew Barco
EA., Tax Preparer, Accountant, Enrolled Agent
Many of Barco’s Accounting clients still remember Andrew (age 5) curling up under his dads’ desk, sleeping during tax season. Andrew knew at an early age that he wanted to be an accountant and take over the office someday. Andrew graduated from USF in 2011 with a degree in Accounting and has been working full time with Barco’s Accounting ever since. Andrew became an Enrolled Agent in 2014. He sees clients for tax preparations as well as accounting clients and people with IRS issues. Andrew has served on the Englewood Area Cancer Foundation board, The Homeless Coalition board, Treasurer of The Placida Rotary. Andrew is a member of the Charlotte-Desoto Building Industry Association (CDBIA), National Association of Enrolled Agents, National Association of Tax Professionals ,The National Society of Accountants and Communications Liaison of Next Gen division of the CDBIA.
He is married to Leah and they have three children. When not working Andrew helps with Home Schooling and loves spending time with his family. He is a member of Grace Bible Church in Port Charlotte.
Randy C MacLeod
Bookkeeper and Tax Preparer
Randy has been with Barco’s Accounting since 2002 and has seen a lot of changes in the tax laws, but one thing that has not changed is the commitment to our clients. Before moving to Florida, he was a department manager in the retail grocery business. He was responsible for staffing, controlling inventory and of course profitability. This paved the way for bookkeeping and he learned tax preparation from a big box firm and with the assistance of Smitty. During tax season Randy does accounting and meets with tax clients, always professional and paying attention to details. He is married to Laurie and they have three children. When not working he enjoys spending time with his family, watching movies and eating good food. He has been known to play an occasional video game or two. He is a member of Family Church PC.
Laurie A MacLeod
Receptionist and Administration Assistance
Laurie has been working at Barco’s Accounting since 2013. Before moving to Florida, she worked at a Medical Collections firm as well as a telemarketing group that focused on raising funds for Fire Departments. During the week, you can find Laurie answering phone calls, scheduling, responding to emails and assisting with making sure the work flow runs smoothly. Outside of work she enjoys spending her downtime with her family. She is married to Randy and they have three children. She is a member of Family Church PC.
